Made-to-measure · 49 Ashe Street, Tralee
Be the sharpest man at the office party — in a suit made for you.
The first thing most men ask us about made-to-measure is the price. Here's the answer from our shop in Tralee, what changes it, and the dates to order by if you want your suit before Christmas.
In one minute
The short answer
- Suits from €895 — cut to your measurements, from over 5,000 fabrics.
- Shirts from €195, overcoats from €1,195 — made the same way.
- Ready in four to six weeks from the day we take your measurements.
- Free fitting in the shop, and no obligation to order on your first visit.
What's included
What €895 gets you
A made-to-measure suit is cut from your own measurements, not picked off the rail in the nearest size. We take an established pattern and adjust it to you — shoulders, sleeves, chest, trousers — so the suit fits you the way an off-the-peg suit only fits the mannequin.
- Your measurements, taken in person at 49 Ashe Street by Micheal, who has been fitting Kerry men for over thirty years.
- Your cloth from over 5,000 fabrics from the best mill houses in Italy, France and Savile Row, London.
- Your lapels, lining and buttons.
- A fitting when the suit arrives, with the final adjustments made there and then.

What you choose

Above €895
What moves the price
The fabric.
The finer the cloth, the higher the price goes — so the same cut can cost €895 or more, depending on what you pick from the books. You'll know the price before you order, and Micheal will show you cloths at different prices side by side.
Three ways to buy a suit
Off-the-peg, made-to-measure or bespoke?
| Off-the-peg | Made-to-measure | Bespoke | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price at Ryle | Two-piece from €199, three-piece from €249 | From €895 | More than made-to-measure |
| How it's made | Standard sizes; sleeves and trousers altered in-house | An established pattern adjusted to your measurements | A new pattern drawn from scratch |
| Time | Take it home today, or after alterations | 4–6 weeks | Longer than made-to-measure |
| Best for | Debs, graduations, a suit you need this week | The office party, black tie, a wedding, a suit you'll wear for years | A completely new pattern |
For most men, made-to-measure is the sensible choice: a suit cut for you, without the wait and the cost of bespoke. If you need a suit this week, our men's suits start at €199, and we alter them here in the shop.
Count six weeks back
When to order for Christmas 2026
Made-to-measure takes four to six weeks, so the order date matters more than the shopping date.
December fills up fast, so earlier is better. If your date is tight, ring us on (066) 712 1586 and we'll tell you whether it can be done in time. Black tie on the invitation? Here's our guide to when to wear a tuxedo.
Not only suits
Shirts and overcoats, made the same way
No obligation
How your first visit works
- 1Book a time online or ring (066) 712 1586, so Micheal can give you proper time.
- 2Sit down with Micheal — what the suit is for, the cloth, the cut. Take as long as you need; a wedding usually takes a little longer. There's no obligation to order.
- 3Your measurements — the set of numbers your suit is cut from.
- 4Four to six weeks while your suit is made.
- 5Your fitting — the final adjustments, made here in the shop.

Questions we get asked
How much does a made-to-measure suit cost in Ireland?
At Ryle Menswear in Tralee, made-to-measure suits start at €895. The cloth you choose sets the final price — the finer the fabric, the higher it goes.
Can I still get a made-to-measure suit for Christmas?
Order by Friday 30 October to be safe — that's in time for a mid-December party and for Christmas Day. After that, ring us on (066) 712 1586 and we'll tell you what can still be made before the Christmas break.
How long is the first appointment?
As long as you need. Some men know what they want and are done quickly; a wedding usually takes longer. There's no obligation to order.
Is made-to-measure worth it over off-the-peg?
If you wear a suit often, or a standard size never quite fits your shoulders, arms or build — yes. If you need a suit this week, off-the-peg from €199 with alterations in the shop is the better call.
Is made-to-measure the same as bespoke?
No. Made-to-measure adjusts an established pattern to your measurements; bespoke draws a new pattern from scratch, which costs more and takes longer.
